Womanhood is an extraordinary power that contains sacrifice, love and care. When this power is channelized in a positive manner, every family will be a happy family, said Rajayogini Brahmakumari Usha, Convener of Eshwareeya Vishwavidyala Mangalore.

She was speaking at the valedictory function of one day district level women’s conference organised by Women’s Wing of Jama’at-e-Islami Hind on Monday at Town Hall here.

She said women should not cross the limits in the name of freedom. “Ramayana also says that Seetha who defied her husband crossing the limits by coming out from Laxman-Rekha fell prey to the evil forces,” she pointed out.

Controlling the emotion is the greatest tool for the success of women, she said.

In her presidential address, Amathurrazak, State Convener of Women’s Wing of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind warned against the potential danger of social networking. She said modern technology such as mobile phones, internet and facebook keep the children away from the family.  Therefore e-literacy for parents is the need of the hour to keep children safe when they use social networking sites, she said.

In Islam women have all the rights including right to live, right to education, right to be looked after, right to own property and right to select the spouse, she said.

Prof Vinitha, Roshni Nilaya, Fathima Meharoon, Principal, Hira Women’s College spoke.

Habiba recited the verses of Qur’an. Sajid Momin, City Convener of women’s wing of Jama’at-e-Islami Hind presented the resolutions adopted by the Wing.

The dignitaries gave away the prizes for the winners of the essay competition. Anitha Kodikal, Mariam Nusrath and Sakiba Shareef received first, second and third places respectively, in the district level essay competition on the topic “Equality of Man and Women and women’s freedom”

Students of Women’s Islamic College performed a skit on ill effects of feticide.

Shameera Jahan, District convener JIH women’s wing welcomed the gathering and delivered introductory remarks.
