In his speech Syed Tanveer Ahmed Said, The Holy Quran, which is revealed to guide humanity till the existence of this world, is so dynamic that it addresses all the issues related to human beings. Unfortunately, today we are imparting/learning knowledge with the sole objective of earning money. As a result, we have been witnessing deterioration of human values. Islam has a clear concept of gaining knowledge. According to it, man being a deputy of God, has the supreme responsibility of managing affairs on the earth. It says that man’s duty is to see to it that there is equitable distribution of resources, justice be established on the land, society be governed with peace, harmony, and each section of the society be free from all sorts of injustice, inequality. It is here that the importance of social sciences arises.

While expressing about the issues & challenges faced by students in opting social sciences as their career he said, the attitude plays an important role. The Parental pressure to see their wards become Doctors or Engineers, negative attitude of the society towards those who study B.A., B.Com etc, and the Educational System itself play a vital role. But, the diminishing values and modern lifestyle have created a great vacuum for social scientists. He said, the day is not far when there would be greater demand for psychiatrists than physicians. Therefore, it should be the responsibility of the social scientists to reform the society in such a way the values gain prominence and peace, justice & better living standards are established in the society. This is the primary responsibility of a Muslim, as has been ordained by Allah swt.
