In response to the ongoing severe heat and drought conditions across Karnataka, the Muslim community in Ilkal gathered on Saturday to perform Istisqa prayers, seeking divine intervention for rainfall.

The event was organized by the Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (JIH) Ilkal unit, following an appeal from the Ameer Halqa of JIH Karnataka Dr. Mohammed Sad Belgami, who urged the organization’s members and the broader Muslim community to participate in these special prayers.

Amidst scorching temperatures, a large congregation assembled at the Eid Gah in Ilkal city, where Maulana Muhammad Farooq Umari led the prayers as the Imam. Syed Bahauddin Sahib Qazi delivered a sermon, while Mufti Hasan Sahib shared insights into the significance of the Istisqa prayer.

After the prayers, attendees, including JIH cadre, scholars, Hafiz, community leaders, children, and guardians, eagerly prayed for divine mercy and rainfall to alleviate the drought conditions.

Dr. Khawaja Vaktapur, Mr. Muhammad Ali Yatanti, and Mr. Mehboob Alam Badgan were among the notable figures present at the event.

The JIH Ilkal Unit Ameer reiterated the call to seek forgiveness and mercy from Allah, expressing hope for rainfall in the near future.

The event witnessed a significant turnout, reflecting the community’s concern over the severe heat and drought conditions plaguing the region.

As the state grapples with the impact of the prolonged dry spell, the Muslim community’s efforts to seek divine intervention through special prayers highlight the importance of religious and spiritual practices in times of environmental adversity.
