Modesty – My Reflection

We all know very well that the modesty in the world is vanishing day by day at an extremely fast pace and yet there is no constructive effort to address the issue.

The world seems to be engulfing with immodesty. High materialistic life style, the uncontrolled and unhealthy use of the electronic media and the web world, indecent representation of women in the field of advertisement, beauty pageants, and the so-called Fashion world allows the female to lead immodest fashion, have added to the worries. Immodesty is like virus which takes the help of these elements to grow further, just like how a disease takes the help of unhealthy surroundings for its rapid growth.

Why should one close the doors of immodesty and accept modesty ….? The answer to this question is simple as immodesty allows a woman to strongly dilute their very purpose of existence, and her character touches such a low that the feminine gender is considered as a commodity.

In such circumstances a female needs to dress up modestly, talk modestly, walk modestly, behave modestly, appear modestly, in short she needs to be modest from head to toe as she is her own reflection. You are what you think, what you speak and what you do. So it’s very important for all us to be cautious enough in our day to day affairs by all means they should strengthen the cause of modesty and there should not be any place for immodesty in our societies.

If we succeed then the world will be left with no answer except shutting down all sorts of immodest means.

A woman of substance is one who is simple in her living. Who stays away from immodesty. Who eats, sleeps, talks, laughs, cries and mingles with the near and dear ones with a purpose, and that purpose of pleasing her God further maximize her modest behavior.

Modesty allows woman her own freedom of speech, freedom of behavior, freedom of existence and co-existence, freedom of living and giving, freedom of tears and laughter but with defined limits:

And tell the believing woman to lower their gaze and be modest and to display of their adornment only that which is apparent, and to draw their veils over their chests, and not to reveal their adornment. (Surah An Noor:31)

That is why Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) says Modesty is a part of faith.

Dear sisters, it’s high time that we follow modesty not just because we have to follow but because this is the command of our Creator and at the same time we need to awaken our fellow sisters to accept modesty in its totality for the betterment of our selves, family and the society.

In order to emphasize the importance and necessity of  modesty, the Girls Islamic Organization Karnataka organizing a ten day campaign throughout the state from 30th Nov’12  to 09th Dec’ 12 under the central theme:
