In a noteworthy bid to promote interfaith harmony and address societal ills, The Hira Center in Areyhalli recently hosted an ‘Eid Milan’ celebration that brought together individuals from diverse religious backgrounds. The event aimed to foster unity and understanding while combating the spread of misinformation and hatred.
“Today, those who spread hatred in society are being made ‘the’ leaders, while ‘the’ leader is the one who removes evils from society,” remarked Mohammed Kunnhi, secretary of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (JIH) Karnataka, during his insightful address. Kunnhi shed light on the prevalent issue of misinformation propagated through platforms like ‘WhatsApp University’ and urged attendees to discern truth from falsehood firsthand.
Emphasizing the societal imperative to combat hatred, Kunnhi drew upon the teachings of Prophet Muhammad, advocating for leadership grounded in the eradication of societal ills. Additionally, he underscored the pivotal role of parents as moral guides for their children, stressing the need for ethical guidance within familial spheres.
The gathering commenced with the solemn recitation of Atiqullah Mr. Mujeeb-ur-Rehman, delivered the opening remarks. Notably, the event extended warm invitations to non-Muslims from diverse backgrounds and esteemed officials from Hindu organizations, fostering an atmosphere of inclusivity and understanding. An Eid feast was served, which provided an additional moment for fostering bonds of friendship.
“Participants seized the opportunity to share their sentiments, expressing joy in being part of this inclusive gathering,” said an attendee, highlighting the spirit of unity that permeated the event.
