In a heartwarming display of communal amity, the Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (JIH) Karnataka cadre embraced the spirit of Ramadan by organizing Iftar get-togethers, inviting friends from diverse faiths to partake in the Iftar celebrations. This initiative aimed to educate and foster a deeper understanding of Islamic beliefs, fasting practices, and the teachings of the Quran among people of other faiths.

The trend, which gained momentum across Karnataka, witnessed not only large-scale programs but also intimate gatherings in homes, where Muslim families warmly welcomed their non-Muslim friends to experience the essence of Ramadan firsthand.

‘Ek Sham Iftar key Nam’ was one such gathering that took place at Tawheed Manzil in Kapu, where individuals from various walks of life, including Vijay Achari, a reporter from Udyawani, Suri Shetty, a social activist, Ashok Pujari, a MESCOM power man, Suresh Bhandari, the president of Mallaru Yuva Mandal, and others, were invited to partake in the festivities.

Moulana Imranullah Khan Mansuri, the host, briefed the guests about the Islamic faith, the significance of fasting, and the spiritual essence of Ramadan, the month in which the Quran was revealed. He emphasized the importance of fasting as a grateful acknowledgment to the Lord of the Universe.

The guests expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to gain insights into Islamic beliefs and practices. Vijay Achari, the Udyawani reporter, applauded the initiative, stating that such activities, which invite friends to celebrate and learn about each other’s beliefs, help strengthen India’s pluralistic society and uphold the true spirit of the nation.

Suresh Bhandari, the president of Mallaru Yuva Mandal, expressed his delight at being part of this gathering among friends’ homes, fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation for one another’s cultures.

As the sun set, marking the end of the day’s fast, the guests were treated to a delectable homemade feast, savoring the flavors of traditional Iftar delicacies while basking in the warmth of interfaith camaraderie.

The Iftar get-togethers serve as a shining example of how shared experiences and open dialogue can bridge gaps and foster lasting bonds between communities, reinforcing the values of unity, respect, and mutual understanding that form the bedrock of India’s vibrant diversity.
