Bangalore: Mr. Syed Hamid Hussain, secretary Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, Karnataka and Goa, died here on the morning of December 3 in a hospital of cardiac arrest. His body was taken to his native town Sindhnoor, a taluka headquarters in Raichur district.

The 57-year-old Mr. Hussain, an M.A. in Economics, had devoted his whole life for the Islamic Movement in Kartnataka and Goa. He was the first secretary of Students’ Islamic Organisation of India, Karnataka and Goa during the term 1982 – 84,. Later he became secretary of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, Karnataka  and Goa. He served the organisation till his death. Also, he was associated with Shanti Prakashna, a Kannada publishing house and Association for the protection of Civil Rights.

He is survived by his wife, three sons and two daughters.
