‘Literature for Peace’ Campaign

October 31, 2013

SP Press ConfBangalore: Shanti Prakashana is a value based publishing house established in 1988. For the last 25 years it has been publishing various books on Islam, thus adding a new and invaluable dimension to the Kannada literary treasure. In a plural and multireligious society a clear and authentic understanding of religions is essential for communal harmony and peaceful co-existence. Lack of mutual understanding leads to misconceptions, misgivings, apprehensions and hatred. To dispel these and build a society where there is mutual love, respect, harmony and brotherhood has been the main aim of Shanti Prakashana.

Till date it has published 250 titles. The publication of Kannada translation and commentary of the Holy Quran has been its most important achievement. Similarly dozens of books have been published on the life history of prophet Muhammad (PBUH), his sayings, as well as on the social, economic, political and spiritual teachings of Islam. There are books on woman, children and current social and national issues. All these have been highly appreciated by the Kannada reading public of our state.

On completion of 25 year, a state wide campaign on “Literature for Peace” is being observed from 1st to 30th November 2013. The objective is to widely introduce and popularize its publications and play a role in the construction of a peaceful society. Renowned writers, religious leaders, journalists and intellectuals have consented to be part of the state level and district level reception committees.

As part of the campaign, large book fairs and exhibition, symposia literary and cultural activities, publishers meet, women and children events and several book releases have been planned all over the state.
