First volume of Tafheem ul Quran in Kannada released

Mangalore: Talthaje Vasantha Kumar, retired professor of Mumbai University, released the first of the sixth volumes of Tafheem ul Quran in Kannada at Town Hall, Mangalore on July 6. Expressing his opinion of Islam, he said that Islam promotes peace among people of all faiths and urged people to study the religion deeply.

The Tafheem ul Quran is an Urdu translation and explanation of the Quran in six volumes, written by Abul Ala Maududi between 1942 and 1972.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Sayyed Akheel Ahmed, dean of the science and technology department at Mysore University, said that people should understand the meanings of all religious scriptures and only then will there be peace in society. Stating that the Quran has solutions for all problems, he said that Muslims will become peace makers of society when they start living according to the Quran.
Dr. Mohammed Saad Belagami, secretary of Jamaath-e-Islami Karnataka, presided. Pradeep Kumar Kalkura, president of the DK Sahitya Parishad, and B. S. Sharafuddeen, guest lecturers of Kuwait IGNOU Centre, were also present.
