‘Dignity My right, My Responsibility’ campaign concludes

GIOUdupi – “The crazy display of beauty, fashion, media and rising misuse of social networking sites like facebook have today threatened the dignity of women. We ourselves are responsible for this development. Infact the fate of our dignity lies in our hands,”said president of Girls’ Islamic Organization Karnataka Madeeha Afshan.

Addressing the gathering at Flower of Paradise School Auditorium in a concluding programme of the statewide campaign ‘Dignity My right, My Responsibility’, Afshan called upon the girls and women to play a crucial role in stopping the violations of women’s dignity.

The 5-day state-level campaign was observed from  4 to 8 Dec. to bring awareness about the causes of women’s present pathetic condition, to arrive at common solution for the betterment of the society, and to disseminate the Divine teachings as an alternative to the solutions.

Quoting the Prophet Muhammad(S)’s words- If anyone cares for three daughters, disciplines them, marries them, and does good to them, he is best amongst you- she explained the status being granted to woman in Islam.

Chief Guests Ms. Shridevi, noted mathematician, Mrs. Manjula Jayakar, resource-person at Education Department and Aisha Nasreen,  teacher at Salihat English Medium School Hoode also spoke on the occasion and presented their views.

The programme started with Sister Anisa’s recitation of the verses from Holy Qur’an. Sister Afnan presented its translations and Sis. Firdaus welcomed the guests and the gathering. District Vice President of GIO Sis. Farhat delivered keynote address. Sis. Navida compered the programme and Sis.Ishrat delivered vote of thanks.
