In the wake of a relentless heatwave sweeping across the state, Dr. Mohammed Saad Belgami, Amir Halqa, has issued a heartfelt appeal to the cadre of the Jamaat-e-Islami Hind Karnataka (JIH) to take the Muslim community to perform Salatul Istasqa. This call to action comes amidst mounting concerns over the drought-like conditions prevailing in many regions, causing distress to both humans and animals alike.
Recognizing the gravity of the situation, Dr. Belgami emphasized the prophetic tradition of seeking divine intervention during times of adversity. He underscored the importance of turning to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds, in repentance and supplication, seeking forgiveness for sins and invoking His mercy.
In accordance with Islamic teachings, Dr. Belgami urged the faithful to gather in the spacious courtyards of mosques and open plains to organize Istasqaa prayers. These congregational prayers, he explained, serve as a means of beseeching Allah’s benevolence and seeking relief from the harsh conditions plaguing the state.
Following the Istasqaa prayer, Dr. Belgami stressed the significance of delivering sermons to the congregation. He outlined the importance of admonishing the community to return to the path of righteousness, to shun disobedience, and to seek forgiveness for their transgressions. Symbolically, he suggested that the Imam reverse his cloak during the sermon as a visual reminder of the need for spiritual introspection and repentance.
As the state grapples with the dual challenges of a severe heatwave and drought, Dr. Belgami’s appeal serves as a poignant reminder of the power of faith and communal solidarity in times of crisis. It is a testament to the resilience of the human spirit and the enduring belief in the mercy and compassion of the Almighty.
