June 11, 2024

**Bengaluru – June 9**: Malik Mu’tasim Khan, Vice President of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, has called on Muslims in India to persist in their efforts for social justice beyond merely demonstrating political awareness. Addressing a special gathering organized by Jamaat-e-Islami Hind Karnataka Bengaluru Metro, Khan emphasized the need for Muslims to integrate into the national mainstream and work towards resolving the country’s issues. He highlighted that political power alone is insufficient, advocating for the acquisition of faith, knowledge, and actionable influence.

Khan commended Indian citizens for their electoral participation, which he said was a stand against political exploitation of religion, social injustice, unemployment, and inflation. This, according to Khan, marks a victory for the people and a defeat for the ruling political party, the BJP, which he urged to accept defeat and refrain from governing. He criticized the BJP for attempting to mask this defeat under the guise of the NDA coalition, while celebrating the public’s decision for a coalition government.

Khan noted the significant involvement of Muslims in the recent elections, with extensive efforts made to include names in voter lists nationwide, showcasing political awareness and vigorous participation by Muslim groups. He urged Muslim Members of Parliament to represent Islam and Muslims effectively, advocating for solutions to unemployment, inflation, and economic conditions.

Muhammad Yusuf Kani, addressing the gathering, highlighted the efforts of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind Karnataka to unite secular-minded individuals and organizations, both Muslim and non-Muslim, during the state’s parliamentary elections. He called on elected representatives to strive for justice and fairness, fulfill their parliamentary duties, and raise their voices against oppression and injustice. He emphasized the collective responsibility to contribute to societal development.

In his concluding remarks, Dr. Muhammad Saad Bilgami, Amir of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind Karnataka, stressed the importance of maintaining democratic and pluralistic characteristics in the country. He called for long-term efforts to promote monotheism in a polytheistic environment and highlighted the necessity of cultivating the required character to achieve their mission. Bilgami assured that sincere efforts towards their mission would attract divine mercy. The City Administrator of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, Bengaluru Metro City, in his opening remarks, underscored the impact of elections on democratic life and welcomed guests and participants, detailing the program.
