September 3, 2024

*Ballari, September 1:* Under the stewardship of HRS General Secretary Mohammed Markada, the Humanitarian Relief Society (HRS) successfully organized a three-day refresh camp in the forest area of Sandur, Ballari. The camp witnessed the participation of around 40 trainers from various parts of the state, all committed to enhancing their skills in emergency rescue and response.

During the camp, various demonstrations showcased essential rescue techniques for handling emergencies. A significant part of the training took place in the Sandur River, where methods to locate and rescue individuals swept away by water were illustrated. Trainers also learned how to provide immediate first aid to those in distress. Another key exercise involved establishing communication using ladders and ropes in scenarios where traditional connections are severed, ensuring effective rescue operations in challenging circumstances.

The camp further focused on practical rescue strategies during fire incidents in buildings, using ladders and ropes to evacuate those in danger. Participants were organized into three sub-teams named Safa, Marwa, and Heera, promoting leadership and teamwork. These teams practiced mutual communication and followed the guidance of their respective team leaders. The camp also included exercises such as spending nights in remote, dark areas to simulate real-life survival scenarios. Trainers were taught to cook without the use of conventional utensils, emphasizing resourcefulness and adaptability.

In today’s world, where natural disasters like landslides in Wayanad and other unforeseen emergencies are becoming more common, such training camps play a crucial role in building a society that is ready and equipped to respond swiftly. The importance of discipline, patience, tolerance, and courage was emphasized, inspiring trainers to continue their efforts with dedication and resilience. Equipped with these vital skills, the participants are better prepared to act as first responders, providing timely aid and relief during critical situations.

Plans were made to expand this initiative to different regions and involve more volunteers to broaden the impact of HRS’s humanitarian work. The camp underscored the importance of having well-trained personnel who can offer immediate support during emergencies, thereby reinforcing community safety and resilience.

The camp was led by Captain Ameer Siddiqui, with Assistant Captain Abrar Ahmad providing crucial support. Assisting them were Muneer Ahmar, Rafiyuddin, and Ameer Jan. A motivational address was delivered by Brother Aseemuddin from Raichur, encouraging participants to uphold the values of humanitarian service and community support.
