Jamaat-e-Islami Hind Karnataka has spent more than 2.5 crore (25987158/-) in providing relief kits to 28472 families across the state of Karnataka during the ongoing lock down till 12th April 2020. With many people stranded without ration and food, due to lack of economic backup for their support, Humanitarian Relief Society has come out on the ground helping people with food and ration kits for their survival till lockdown is lifted up.

The relief work activities have been carried out by the volunteers of Jamaat as well as its relief wing-Humanitarian Relief Society, Karnataka (HRS). According to Janab Akbar Ali, state secretary for JIH Karnataka (social service department), Jamaat volunteers have covered all the districts of the state in reaching to the deserving families with the relief material. Janab K. M. Ashraf saheb, director, HRS Karnataka is supervising the relief work. According to the information furnished by the General Secretary of HRS, Mohammed Markada, apart from ration kits, HRS has been supplying cooked food to almost 12560 people each day, who happen to be daily wage workers, homeless people and stranded citizens many of whom are students. To execute this humongous task it has pulled out almost 1000 volunteers on ground with the cooperation of Students Islamic Organisation & Jamaat e Islami Hind Karnataka. Many of its own volunteers have been earlier trained on dealing with situations in a crisis. HRS plans on carrying forward this service till lockdown is lifted. HRS has been able to reach out and help about 100 people who were in need of medical help and has provided emergency services to about 500 people during this lockdown period says Mohammed Markada. HRS Team says that all of this has been possible only with the generous contributions from public and with the help of dedicated volunteers from JIH Karnataka and SIO Karnataka.
