Bangalore: Prajavani, a leading Kannada daily carried a feature on Bhatkal dated 17 February in its “Karnataka Darshana” supplement, which included a one-sided misrepresented view about Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (JIH). The moment it came to the notice of Jamaat authorities, a delegation led by Jb. K.M. Ashraf, state secretary, JIH Karnataka including Jb. Syed Tanveer Ahmed, Shura Member, Jb. Muhammad Bilal, Joint Secretary, Jb. Laeequllah Khan, Media Coordinator, Jb. Labeed Shafi, Zonal President, SIO Karnataka and Jb. Aqeel, Campus Secretary, SIO Karnataka visited the Prajavani office in Bangalore and met the Executive Editor and the Senior Reporter to discuss the issue.
Prajavani carried Jamaat’s response the next day.
Meanwhile, another delegation of Jamaat in Mysore visited the local office of Prajavani led by Jb. Khaleelur Rahman Waseem, President, JIH Mysore and expressed disappointment over the issue.
A third delegation comprising of Jamaat authorities in Bhatkal met the Assistant Commissioner and submitted a memorandum demanding an arrest of the miscreant who was responsible for providing biased inputs to the reporter.
Later Jb. Muhammad Yusuf Kanni, Shura Member, JIH Karnataka addressed community leaders of Bhatkal and also met authorities of other organisations too.
