DIGNITY – My Right – My Responsibility

November 28, 2013

GIO BrochureWhen we talk about dignity we usually relate dignity with a woman because a woman is delicate in nature. A woman is like a pearl inside a shell. She is soft, sensitive, sober, ….. But when it comes to her dignity she knows how to protect it. Woman in her many phases is respected due to her pristine nature. Whether a mother, a wife, a daughter, a sister.

The present conditions have worsened the recent scenario. Every day in India 480 women and girl child are tortured, every 43 minutes a women is raped, and every day 19 daughters are burnt alive for not fulfilling the dowry needs of her in laws, every 5 hours a woman is kidnapped. Every day 200 girls and women in India enter flesh trade, 80% against their will.  Every year out of 1.5 crores baby girls born  only 37.5 lakh  reach the age of 15 in India. The rest are all killed due to female foeticide or any other reason. Which means 1 crore, 12 lakhs, fifty thousand girls die each year in India alone.

It’s because of the immorality in the society, due to western culture influence that is fast spreading and damaging the views of the youth in our country. But this can be removed from the minds of the people as well as the society if we promote moral values, eradicate evils and promote good deeds.

A woman should be respected than being treated irrationally because it’s just not the responsibility of the woman herself but equal responsibility of the man who is also the better half of the society. But above all the women who are youth are even more targeted and its natural that their responsibility is even more to protect themselves and maintain their own dignity as it’s our own right our own responsibility. Unless and until we don’t take a firm decision nothing will change. That is why Girl’s Islamic organization of Karnataka is organizing a campaign throughout the state of Karnataka on the topic – Dignity My Right – My Responsibility from Dec 4th to Dec 8th 2013, in order to bring awareness about the causes of women’s present pathetic condition, to arrive at common solution for the betterment of the society, and to disseminate the Divine teachings as an alternative to the solutions. We need your support and want you to join us for this cause.
