Youth Wing DK distribute lakh Rs. to Endo victims

YW DK EndoMangalore: Youth wing of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, Dakshina Kannada, visited endosulfan victims in areas like Alankaru, Athoor, Kundaje, Surulikatte, Kemmara, Samethadka, Koila and Kuntoor on Thursday, January 23 and distributed an amount of Rs 1,02,000 to the victims.

During the visit, the members met with various victims of the endosulfan incident. The magnitude of the condition of each victim differs from case to case, but the living condition in the affected areas is nevertheless, tragic in its outcome. The entire area has recorded more than 1900 individual cases of endosulfan poisoning.

Youth wing district president Mohammad Mohsin and state assistant convenor Shabeer Ahmed, accompanied with other members, Siddiq Jakribettu, Irshad Hashmi, Saleem BolangadyMusthafa Athoor and Rawoof Uppinangady visited the affected areas to meet the victims. Endo Horata Samithi Alankaru, president Peer Mohammed, vice president Jayakar and Jaya Karnataka Kamalaksha Rai also took part.

A 55 year old widow, Devki, who single handedly supports her 22 year old daughter, Vinoda, at Kundaje. Devki described their distressed living conditions and her daughter’s growth disability caused due to the poisoning. Vinoda is unable to do any of the daily chores without the physical support of her mother. For 22 years, Devki has supported her daughter in meagre living conditions. Due to her growing old age, the mother seems to be finding it difficult to provide physical help because of her own deteriorating health.

The members of the youth wing met with a similar case of a 26 year old Asif, who is suffering from a growth condition caused because of the endo poisoning that has left him bedridden for life. In another heartbreaking case, 50 year old Aminamma has to struggle each day to take care of her 8-year-old son, Samad and 30 year old sister Hajira, both victims of the poisoning.

25 year old Ananda Muger is a victim, with a severe growth condition that requires for his both legs to be amputated. He is anxious about the treatment, but the youth wing has given him a ray of hope by offering to manage all the expenses of his medical treatment.

Having seen their living and health conditions, youth wing district committee has appealed to the state government to arrange health compensation and monthly pension to endo victims at the earliest.
