Udupi:  Prayers should bring about changes in an individual’s life and also must have the power to uplift the downtrodden, socially and economically backward. If prayers divide people on religious lines then it shall lose its true essence. Hence one must focus on the social welfare and well being of the larger section of the society, said former state president, SIO, Asrar Umari who was addressing the community convention on Monday June 23, organized by Jamaat-e-Islami Hind at Udupi.

Jamaat-e-Hind Mangalore President Sayyed Ismail urged the need for an inner introspection and understand the true meaning of life. He said the community has today disregarded the true interpretation of Holy Scriptures and time has come to make the right use of this knowledge.

Imranulla Mansoori quoted and read the verses from Holy Quran. Idris Hoode delivered the introductory address. Jamaat-e-Islami Hind district convener M Shabbir Malpe presided over. Anwar Ali Kapu compered the programme.
