Dharwad, April 4: The Islamic Book Fair organized by Jamaat-e-Islami Hind at the Kala Bhavan here has been a centre of attraction for people from different faiths and walks of life since its opening last Thursday. The fair offers a variety of books in different languages and on varied topics. The exhaustive book exhibition has the Quran with translation and commentary in different languages, including Kannada, Tamil, Marathi, English and Urdu.
Along with 250 titles on various aspects of Islam in Kannada brought out by Shanthi Prakashana, the Islamic Book Fair has displayed scores of other books on Islamic doctrines and teachings encompassing all aspects of human life and activities, moral, spiritual, social, economic and political.
Books on history, current issues like polygamy, dowry, exploitation of women, violence and bloodshed and so on discuss these topics on the backdrop of Islam and try to find solutions.
The other books like comparative study of Islamic doctrines with other religious texts of Christianity, Zoroastrianism and Vedic texts offers curious reading. The organisers said books in Kannada were in good demand.
More thrust had been given to display women and children literature having moral values.
The books on Islamic tenets and related topics in Kannada had more takers.
Besides the book fair, an excellent exhibition on ongoing issues is also arranged. Models made in thermocol, clay and other materials depicting the tenets of Islam and Islamic ideology is another attraction in the ground.
