Bangalore (4-11-2015): Janab M. Abdul Majeed alias Arshad Siddiqi, a senior member of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind and national and state secretary of Idara-e-Adab-e-Islami Hind, Karnataka passed away today after fajr on the way to hospital after his morning walk in a park near his house. Inna lillahi wa inna ilaihi rajiuoon. He had woke up for tahajjud, offered fajr and went for his routine walk. He was explaining Qur’anic verses to his nearby person while relaxing in the park that he felt inconvenience and fainted. He breathed his last on the way to the hospital.

Janab Abdul Majeed had dedicated his entire life for the cause of Islamic movement. He was a selfless person with a concern and love for all his friends (rufaqa-e-Jamaat) and colleagues. Janab Abdul Majeed was Born on 12th March 1942 in Kumsi of Shimoga district, Majeed saheb did his MA in Urdu and got his B.Ed. and served as a teacher in Mangalore and Hoode of Udupi district. He also served in Bhatkal. He became the member of the Jamaat-e-Islami Hind in 1973. He was put into jail along with other members of Jamaat during emergency  for his affiliation with the Jamaat. He resigned his job and dedicated his life as a full time member of Jamaat in 1977. He was appointed the office secretary during the tenure of Moulana Sirajul Hasan saheb as State President for JIH Karnataka (Earlier known as Mysore). He has also served as Ameer e Muqami for JIH Mangalore, He was district organisor for Mysore, Regional organisor for Kolar, He was appointed in-charge for press and publicity department of JIH Karnataka, later in-charge of the department of education. He was appointed state secretary for Board of Islamic Education Karnataka & Goa. He has also being associated with the literary body of the Jamaat i.e. Idara-e-Adab-e-Islami Hind. Was appointed its national secretary for South India and also its state secretary for Karnataka. The Jamaat’s national and state authorities and all members and associates of Jamaat are saddened by his departure. May Allah accept his contributions, forgive his sins and reward him the best in hereafter. Aameen
